Practice Management

Practice Manager: Jessica Harding [email protected]

Deputy: Emma Prince [email protected]

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Reception

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits. Receptionists, along with all other members of our administrative team, are duty bound to uphold the same level of confidentiality as any member of clinical staff.

Medical Secretary

The medical secretary assists the doctors with their letters and referrals. They also action requests for access to medical records from individuals, employers and insurance companies (written patient consent is always required in the case of third party requests). If you have a query regarding a referral you’ve discussed with a doctor, then the medical secretary is often a good first point of contact. Phone reception and they’ll be able to put you through if required.

Medicines Management Technician

Our Medicines Optimisation Technician is not employed directly by the practice but works for the North Staffordshire CCG Medicines Optimisation team. The team promote good quality prescribing which involves the use of medicines which are evidence based, cost-effective and safe. Our Technician works in practice one morning a week to audit prescribing and make optimisation recommendations to the GP in line with local and national guidelines.

Data Quality Facilitator

Again our Data Quality Facilitator (DQF) is not employed directly by the practice but works for the NHS Staffordshire and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit. They are available to provide clinical systems support to the practice by performing system upgrades, monitoring performance against national clinical indicators and assisting in the generation of searches and audits at practice request. For example: Identifying eligible patients for a new vaccination campaign.

All staff adhere to the Practice’s Confidentiality Policy and Data Protection Act 2018.
